WRECK
It is fair to say that you do not catch many Pouting when wreck fishing. I suppose the words for that would be "thank goodness".

It is not a targeted fish of choice for either wreck or reef fishers. But when captured on wrecks, there are usually dozens of them that will land on the decks of the boat.

Best tackle is either a baited feather trace or a whiting trace. Remember to keep that line tight otherwise you will end up with a "bunch of bananas" and lost fishing time.

REEF FISHING
Some times large quantities of Pouting are captured by reef fisherman. These fish like Whiting are shoal fish and when someone on the boat captures one you may rest assured dozens will be captured.

Large fish are reasonable tasting and not unlike Whiting to eat. However you usually need  a few to make a decent meal. Once again baited feathers or whiting trace are the best method to capture Pouting.

If you can't capture a Pouting my advice is "give up angling".
